the method
This site accuses people. That obliges it to show its working. Here is exactly how an entry gets here, what stands behind it, and where the limits are.
Where entries come from
Every entry is researched by hand from public reporting and public footage. Nothing is scraped, inferred, or generated. A person appears here because a published report or a verifiable clip documents something they did or said in public.
Tips sent through the form on the home page are leads, not content. You can send a link or upload a clip; either way it goes into a review queue that only we read, and uploaded files are stored privately rather than served from this site. Nothing submitted is ever published automatically, and most leads do not become entries.
The second step of the form asks who filmed it, when and where, and who is in it. All of it is optional — but footage nobody can date, place or attribute cannot be turned into a cited entry, so a clip with no provenance usually stops there. If you don’t know, leave it blank; a guess is worse than a gap.
What the two halls mean
- Hall of fame — people who showed up and took a cost for it. The claims are things they said or did in public.
- Hall of shame — named public figures, and only their public or official acts. Holding office, running for it, or speaking publicly on the matter is what makes someone eligible.
These are allegations and characterisations of documented conduct, not findings of any court. Nothing here asserts that anyone has been convicted of anything.
What counts as a source
A source is a URL a reader can open: a named publication’s report, a court filing, or the original post or clip. A citation that cannot be opened is not a source, however official it looks.
Every claim on a person’s page therefore renders one of two ways. Either the citation is a link you can click, or it carries a visible UNLINKED marker. UNLINKED means we believe the claim is accurate and have not yet published a link that proves it. Treat it as unverified until it is linked.
The counts on the home page and at the top of each section are computed from the database, not written by hand. If unsourced entries are added, those numbers get worse. That is deliberate.
What this site does not do
- No face recognition, no face matching, no biometric identification of any kind. No such system exists here, and none is planned.
- No identification of private individuals. Entries name public figures acting in public roles.
- No claim that footage is forensically authenticated. We link to the original where one exists, so you can judge it yourself.
- No publishing of anything you send us. Uploads and links go to a private review queue; a clip only appears on the site after a human has checked it and written a cited entry by hand.
An earlier version of this site advertised some of the above. It did not have them. Those claims have been removed, along with every entry that could not be supported.
Getting it wrong
We will get things wrong. When that happens the entry is corrected or removed and the change is logged on the corrections page. Anyone described here can respond, and the response is published alongside the entry.
